Where does Westchester Square change ZIP code?

Mostly at Zerega Avenue. The neighborhood is split almost in half by tax lot: east of Zerega is mostly one ZIP code, and west of it is the other.

  • 10461

    Mostly east of Zerega Avenue

    • East Tremont Avenue, numbers 2400 and up
    • Westchester Avenue east of Zerega Avenue
    • Glebe Avenue east of Zerega Avenue
    • St. Peters Avenue
    • Overing Street
  • 10462

    Mostly west of Zerega Avenue

    • Westchester Avenue west of Zerega Avenue
    • St. Raymond Avenue west of Zerega Avenue
    • Parker Street
    • Doris Street

The Zerega Av station on the 6 train sits right on the line: one of its stairs is in 10462 and the other in 10461. We clean on both sides of it.

Are Westchester Square homes mostly houses or walk-ups?

Walk-ups. Buildings with no elevator hold more than half the homes here, even though the two-family house is the single most common building. Either one books by its rooms.

  • Walk-up buildings

Close to 450, three-family houses included, with over half of all homes.

  • One- and two-family houses

Over 800, and most date from before 1940 in city records.

  • Elevator buildings

Fifteen, most of them six stories. The tallest, on Glebe Avenue, has 13.

Add-ons that suit an older two- or three-family house:

  • Stairs & railings
  • Basement swept out
  • Interior windows
  • Wash & fold laundry
  • Inside the fridge
  • Inside the oven

Do you clean apartments above the stores?

Yes. About 70 buildings in Westchester Square mix homes with a store or an office, many on Zerega, East Tremont and Westchester avenues. Those apartments book like any other.

What should I know before booking?

Questions neighbors ask in Westchester Square

Is Westchester Square in 10461 or 10462?

Both, close to half and half by tax lot. North of Westchester Avenue the line is Zerega Avenue: the blocks west of it are 10462 and the blocks east are 10461, though most addresses on Zerega itself are 10462. Westchester, Glebe and St. Raymond avenues change ZIP code where they cross Zerega. We clean on both sides.

Is Westchester Square part of Westchester County?

No. Westchester Square is a neighborhood of the Bronx, inside New York City, and Bronx Community Board 10 lists it among its neighborhoods. Its center is less than a mile and a half from our base on Tomlinson Avenue.

How much does house cleaning cost in Westchester Square?

It depends on the home. You choose the rooms and how often we come, and the plan builder adds it up from $0 as you go. You see the full total before you share any contact details.

Do you clean the walk-up buildings on Doris and Parker streets?

Yes. Walk-ups are the most common apartment building in Westchester Square, and Doris, Parker, Fuller and Lyvere streets have many of them. Most are two to four floors. Each apartment books on its own, by its rooms.

Do you clean on East Tremont Avenue?

Yes. From number 2400 on, East Tremont Avenue is in 10461 all the way through the neighborhood, and about a dozen of its buildings have homes above a store. We clean those apartments too.
