What kind of houses does Baychester have?

Houses, almost entirely: one- and two-family houses are more than eight in ten residential lots, half of them from 1950 to 1979. Only four buildings have an elevator.

  • Two-family houses

About 1,660; Wickham, Tiemann and Gunther avenues lead.

  • One-family houses

About 1,330, six in ten attached; most on Gunther and Mickle avenues.

  • Three-family houses and walk-ups

About 480, mostly three-family, and half of them built after 1980.

  • The 1935 complex off Eastchester Road

Five buildings, over 1,400 apartments, on Wilson, Fish and Corsa avenues.

Extras common in these houses:

  • Stairs & railings
  • Basement swept out
  • Interior windows
  • Blinds & curtains dusted
  • Inside the fridge
  • Inside the oven

Why does Baychester look newer than its neighbors?

Because most of it went up after the war. NYC Planning says the area was largely developed in the mid-20th century; half the residential lots date from 1950 to 1979.

How much does a cleaning cost in Baychester?

It depends on how many rooms you have and how often we come. The plan builder starts at $0, prices each room as you add it, and shows the total before it asks for your contact details.

Do you clean attached one-family houses in Baychester?

Yes. Six in ten one-family houses here are attached or semi-detached, with Gunther and Mickle avenues having the most, and a two-family house is cleaned one floor at a time. In the plan builder you add the rooms you want done, and the stairs or the basement only if you want those too.

Do you clean the 1935 buildings on Wilson, Fish and Corsa avenues?

Yes. That complex off Eastchester Road, finished in 1935, holds more than 1,400 apartments in four- to six-story buildings at 3438 Wilson Avenue, 3444 Fish Avenue, 3485 Corsa Avenue, 1400 Hicks Street and 3437 Eastchester Road, all in 10469. An apartment there is priced by its rooms like any other.

The Baychester Av stop on the 5, whose two entrances are inside the neighborhood near Haffen Park, and Gun Hill Rd on the same line, just across Gun Hill Road on the Pelham Gardens side. Both are on the Dyre Avenue branch.

Do you clean near Haffen Park and the Eastchester Library?

Yes. Haffen Park runs from Hammersley Avenue to Burke Avenue between Ely and Gunther avenues, and the Eastchester Library is at 1385 East Gun Hill Road. The houses around both are the two-family blocks we see most often here.
